Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify appropriate candidates for penile prosthesis implantation based on a thorough assessment of medical history, previous treatments for erectile dysfunction, and patient preferences.
Apply appropriate surgical techniques for penile prosthesis implantation, ensuring proper sizing, placement, and tissue handling to minimize complications.
Implement evidence-based preoperative protocols to optimize patient outcomes, including antibiotic prophylaxis, glycemic control in diabetic patients, and smoking cessation counseling.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including urologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive care throughout the perioperative period.
