At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify appropriate indications for tramadol therapy in patients with moderate-to-severe pain, considering its classification as a class IV controlled substance.
Screen patients for potential contraindications, drug interactions, and risk factors for opioid misuse before initiating tramadol therapy.
Select alternative pain management strategies or medications when tramadol is contraindicated or ineffective, prioritizing patient safety and individualized care.
Collaborate with interprofessional healthcare team members, such as pharmacists and specialists, to optimize tramadol therapy and address complex patient needs.
