Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
- Describe how to evaluate a patient with a thermal burn injury.
- Describe how to calculate fluid resuscitation rates using both the Parkland formula and the modified Brooke formula.
- Explain the basic principles of thermal burn wound care.
- Success in burn care requires a well-coordinated, interprofessional team approach. Describe how different team members can contribute to caring for patients with thermal burn injuries.
