Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify early clinical manifestations of poliomyelitis, recognizing the varied presentations from self-limiting illness to acute flaccid paralysis.
Screen populations at risk for polio, with a focus on regions with poor sanitation, to facilitate early detection and targeted preventive measures.
Implement vaccination strategies effectively, emphasizing the critical role of immunization as primary prevention against poliomyelitis.
Determine the importance of improving care coordination amongst the interprofessional team to improve outcomes for patients with poliomyelitis and postpolio syndrome.
