Activity Description

There are indications for late preterm, early term, late term, and post-term inductions depending on a patient's obstetrical and medical history. Obsterical indications encompass placental and uterine conditions, fetal conditions such as growth restriction and multiple gestations, oligohydramnios or polyhydramnios, alloimmunization, and premature preterm rupture of membranes. Maternal indications that warrant induction includes hypertensive disorders, pregestational and gestational diabetes. This activity reviews the indications, contraindications of induction of labor and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in the management of the pregnant patient.
