Activity Description

Diarrhea consists of the passage of watery and loose stools multiple times a day (usually more than 3), though specific definitions may vary when applied for distinct studies or populations. Diarrhea is one of the most common medical conditions, and mild occurrences may not require medical attention. For health care providers, it is crucial to be familiar with this entity regardless of specialty and scope of practice. This activity outlines the evaluation and management as well as different causes of bacterial diarrhea. The role of the interprofessional team in management is explained in patients with this common condition.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians.

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:

  • Identify the etiology of bacterial diarrhea.
  • Describe the evaluation of bacterial diarrhea.
  • Explain the management options available for bacterial diarrhea. Emphasize the role of rehydration treatment.
  • Review interprofessional team strategies for improving care coordination and communication to advance the treatment of bacterial diarrhea and improve outcomes.

Something was wrong with this program, it kept re-asking questions I had answered correctly. Also when I try to print the certificate or review the topic info by clicking on the red box, nothing happens.
