Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate candidates for codeine therapy, considering factors like age, medical history, and potential drug interactions.
Screen patients for risk factors of opioid misuse, abuse, or addiction before initiating codeine therapy.
Assess the patient's response to codeine therapy, including pain relief, adverse effects, and any signs of misuse or addiction.
Implement collaboration within an interprofessional team to develop comprehensive pain management plans that address individual needs while minimizing the risks associated with codeine use.
