Activity Description

Breast masses are common and are associated with a wide spectrum of diseases, from benign physiological adenosis to advanced malignancy. A structured and comprehensive approach is required in order to assess patients presenting with a new breast mass. This activity outlines the evaluation and management of a new breast mass and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in caring for patients with this condition.

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:

  • Identify the common causes of a new breast mass.

  • Outline the physical examination findings associated with a new breast mass.

  • Summarize the common and novel genomic investigations carried out for patients with a new breast mass.

  • Describe the management considerations for patients with a new breast mass.
