Activity Description

Pancreatitis is defined as inflammation of the pancreas, leading to damage and dysfunction of the retroperitoneal organ. It can be classified as Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis. There are various etiologies of pancreatitis, the most common being alcohol and gallstones. The others include drugs, infections, postoperative, genetic causes to name a few. This activity describes the diagnosis of Pancreatitis and precise staging of disease severity using the Ranson score and Modified Atlanta Classification respectively. It outlines the various treatment guidelines and protocols while highlighting the importance of an organized interprofessional team to treat pancreatitis and improve outcomes. It also illustrates the various complications of pancreatitis and their management.

  • Address the importance of the interprofessional team in the systematic management of alcoholic pancreatitis.
