Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
- Describe how a patient with acute HIV infection might present, and the initial screening test that should be done.
- Identify when antiretroviral therapy should be initiated in patients with human immunodeficiency virus.
- Outline some common antiretroviral therapy regimens.
- Summarize collaboration with interprofessional team members to ensure that high risk patients are being educated about and offered pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis.
