Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify the risk factors and clinical signs of adrenal crises in patients with known or suspected adrenal insufficiency.
Implement evidence-based guidelines for the timely diagnosis and treatment of adrenal crisis, including appropriate use of glucocorticoid therapy and fluid resuscitation.
Apply stress dosing guidelines for glucocorticoid replacement therapy during stressful situations, such as trauma, surgery, and severe illness, to prevent adrenal crisis.
Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to monitor and educate patients with adrenal insufficiency and implement patient-specific prevention strategies to avoid adrenal crises.
